Mongoose vs. Scorpion
GM asked us to create a spot to launch their heavy-duty truck with an all-new 8.3L Duramax Turbo Diesel V8.
The catch? We couldn't show the truck or the engine.
So, how do you tease something so powerful without actually showing it? Well the engineers who built this new V8 named it "Mongoose", a direct swipe at Ford's diesel engine the "Scorpion". Mongooses are natural predators of scorpions. We thought they should square off.
The spot caught the attention of influencers and auto blogs and spread like a wildfire.
